Early Baugh families in Kentucky
The name, John Baugh, appears as a petitioner in the book, Petitioners of the Early Inhabitants of Kentucky. His name appears in the list of those signing Petition Number 9, endorsed 16 Oct 1779. In 1799, a John Baugh, Sr. received a land grant in Barren County, KY. I suspect this is the same John Baugh. If so, he remained in the area until about 1820 after which he moved to the Mount Vernon, Illinois area (Jefferson County, IL). Collins History of Kentucky, Vol. II, pages 314-5.
Early census records further document the presence of Baugh families living in Kentucky.
